Our Story
Our story started three generations ago… The Tornambe family began our family-owned business, Tornambe’s Hairstyling, cutting hair in the Norristown area, and is still going strong after 54 years!
It all started back in 1940, when our patriarch, Anthony Tornambe (father of Mike and Joe), opened his barber shop in New York City. In 1945, he moved his family and business to the Norristown area and thrived there until his death in 1965.
Brothers Mike and Joe, who were barbering independently, decided to join forces and opened The Village Barber Shop in the Audubon Shopping Center. The 3 chaired shop opened in 1966.
The two started to grow their business until it was busy enough to bring in the 3rd generation, Mike’s son, Anthony in 1978. At that time, the business evolved into a family hair care center and changed the name to Tornambe’s Hairstyling, to reflect those changes. Business grew to the point where Mike’s daughter and Anthony’s sister, Karen, joined the staff to form a strong team now consisting of seven stylists. The longevity of the shop has attracted a loyal clientele that includes many multi-generational families.
Sadly, in March, 2019, we lost Mike, one of our founders and patriarch of the family business. He is truly missed but will always be a part of us. With the help of all our friends, we hope to be here for many years to come!
